Chip Bolton
Founder, Bolton Group
Chip founded Bolton Group in Oxford, Mississippi, after more than two decades inside two software companies in the fintech space. He started first as a law clerk during law school and worked his way to Chief Legal Officer. Over fifteen years there, the company grew tenfold and was eventually acquired in a $475 million transaction. Chip led the company through the sale and stayed three months past closing to manage the transition.
He joined the second company as General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer. Legal, HR, accounting, and administration all reported to him, and he ran operations day to day alongside the Chief Operating Officer. He served as counsel to the Board and reported to the CEO.
He holds a J.D. and an M.B.A., both from the University of Mississippi.
Chip’s practice today centers on the work he does best: corporate governance, contract negotiation, M&A due diligence, intellectual property, and employment matters. He routes litigation, tax, and patent work to specialists.
Chip lives in Oxford with his wife and two children. He is active in his church.
